  1. Great video. Simplistic but packed with usable and functional tips. Tool rest height and grain orientation to get a smooth surface is so many times overlooked in other, “instructional videos”. Nice job!

  2. An absolute excellent demonstration. I thoroughly enjoyed and understood Kirk’s explanations. His patience, knowledge and skill came through loud and clear. I’ll be certainly recommending this video to my woodturning friends. Thank you.

  3. Kirk: I enjoyed the new video. In the video you talk about tool rest height. I think a good video would be to show different tools (bowl gouge, spindle gouge, scrapers, etc.) and the pros and cons of the tool rest height needed for a good finish. After years of turning I found that tool rest height can make or break the project. Beginners struggle with this and would find your instruction very helpful.

  5. very nice bowl. What I am lacking is that I am missing some thing obvious in the sanding process. Other videos just say the grit progression. I go much further than that, but I still have scratches. I must be doing something wrong.
Anyway if you can describe the sanding procedure in detail, start to finish, I would be appreciative.
I have actually stopped turning bowls & platters because of this.
